Dr. Valérie Freiche is a distinguished veterinarian specializing in internal medicine, with a particular focus on gastroenterology and digestive oncology. She graduated from the Alfort National Veterinary School (École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort, ENVA) near Paris, France. Following her graduation, she completed an internship and obtained a French specialization in internal medicine at the same institution. She also earned her PhD with a project on the comparative oncogenesis of indolent T-cell lymphoproliferative intestinal disorders in cats and humans, a study that involved collaboration between both human and veterinary researchers.

Currently, Dr. Freiche serves as a full-time Hospital Practitioner and Research Engineer at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vétérinaire d'Alfort (CHUVA) within ENVA. She is a member of the Internal Medicine Department, where she is involved in clinical teaching and research, and heads the gastroenterology consultation service. Her main interests include gastroenterology, particularly interventional endoscopy, and digestive oncology. She has an extensive publication record, including journal articles, research abstracts, and book chapters. Dr. Freiche is also actively involved in veterinary continuing education.

In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Freiche has been involved with the European Society of Comparative Gastroenterology (ESCG). She served as president from 2022 to 2024 and currently holds the position of past-president since November 2024.
