Paulo Steagall

Dr. Paulo Steagall is a Professor of Veterinary Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the City University of Hong Kong and the Université de Montréal. He is a board-certified specialist by the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia. He is the head of a clinical research laboratory dedicated to improving pain management and animal welfare with cutting-edge research in pain assessment with emphasis on cats including the Feline Grimace Scale (www.felinegrimacescale.com) while also providing clinical services at the veterinary teaching hospital. He is a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) Global Pain Council, and co-chair of the WSAVA Therapeutic Guidelines Group, the 2022 International Society of Feline Medicine Consensus Guidelines on Acute Pain Management and the FECAVA Basic Best Practices in Anaesthesia and Analgesia. He has published over 130 scientific articles on pain management and the book “Feline Anesthesia and Pain Management” while lecturing internationally.
