PD Dr. med. vet. Mirja C. Nolff is a distinguished veterinary surgeon specializing in soft tissue and oncological surgery. She serves as a Senior Surgeon at the University of Zurich's Small Animal Clinic, where she focuses on surgical oncology, reconstructive surgery, and the application of near-infrared fluorescence in tumor surgeries.
Dr. Nolff earned her veterinary degree from the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in 2007. She subsequently completed an internship and assistantship at the same institution, achieving the German specialization in Small Animal Medicine in 2012. She then pursued a surgical residency at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, culminating in her certification as a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS).
Her research interests include oncological surgery, reconstructive techniques, sarcoma therapy, near-infrared fluorescence imaging, and addressing antibiotic resistance. Dr. Nolff has been instrumental in developing national Swiss guidelines for antibiotic use in small animal surgery and is an active member of the European Network for Optimization of Veterinary Antimicrobial Treatment (ENOVAT).
In 2016, Dr. Nolff was honored with the ABCD & Merial Young Scientist Award for Clinical Research, recognizing her innovative work in negative pressure wound therapy for feline patients.
Dr. Nolff is a member of several professional organizations, including the Veterinary Wound Healing Association, where she contributes to advancing veterinary surgical practices and wound management.
