Gilles Dupre

⦁ Gilles Dupré graduated in France and did his surgical training both in France as assistant in the surgery department of the Vet. school and in the USA where he was recruited as resident in small animal surgery at Ohio State University.
⦁ He became Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons, in 1993.
⦁ In France, Prof. Dupré developed the largest referral clinic in France setting the path for specialization and referral practice in Europe.
⦁ He created the first internships and residency programs and became a significant contributor to the development of veterinary specialization in Europe and in many other European countries.
⦁ In 2005, he was appointed by the veterinary medicine University of Vienna (Austria) as Head of the clinic for small animal surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry, physical therapy and rehabilitation. At the same time Prof. Dupré joined the European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies (ESAVS) where he founded the surgical curriculum, bringing new knowledge to post-graduate students all over Europe and Asia and leading new professional certificates and master programs.
⦁ He has been pronouncing thousands of lectures in academic and nonacademic environments and became dr. honoris causa of the university of Cluj-Napocca in 2021.
⦁ Beside heading several surgical departments, Prof. Dupré is the founder of many surgical techniques which are now applied worldwide as standard procedures. These achievements have been made possible because of his constant vision of the necessary bond between research and clinical objectives. This is reflected through the publication of hundreds of articles and book chapters which became cornerstones of the development of small animal surgery. Gilles Dupré is now back to his mother country where he is active as a surgeon and international lecturer. His teaching activities span all over Europe and beyond, in academic and nonacademic environments, but also as guest-speaker for the most prestigious congresses, traveling the world to share his passion about surgery.
